US Betray Israel – Allow UNSC Resolution Against Israel To Pass
By Dailytab24.
US has abstained from a United Nations Security Council meeting which mandated Israel to ceasefire in Gaza and ensure significant aid delivery. Instead of to veto the resolution in support of the war to release hostages.
The resolution did not tie the ceasefire with the release of hostages.
The resolution marks the first time Hamas terrorists are recording victory against Israel in the United Nations Security Council.
The move is seen as the first sign of the length United States under President Joe Biden is ready to go, to ensure Israel is compelled to soften its position and change its policies in Gaza.
Israel and US have been battling on the policies of the war in Gaza, with US wanting to have upper hand in execution of the war.
The significant fallout is the first of its kind since the war began. US has taken a strong stance for Israel and shielded it against resolutions that had hampered the war against Hamas.
The importance of the war against Hamas cannot be taken for granted, and that belief was shared with United States until recently.
Hamas terrorist after their October 7 attack swore to carry out another attack. The terrorists group said they live for the blood of Israeli citizens and to ensure the total elimination of Israel.
The ideology has led to the popular anti-Semitic slogan From The River To The Sea, which means wiping Israel off the surface of the earth.
The existential threat Hamas poses to Israel means the war in Gaza must be concluded, but U.S is significantly shifting from that belief as it abstained from a resolution that hampers the mission.
Israel believes the action of US to abstain while they are expected to veto the resolution means “a clear retreat from the consistent US position in the Security Council since the beginning of the war.
Israel also believes that it “gives Hamas hope that international pressure will allow them get a ceasefire without releasing the hostages” because Israel has largely hinged ceasefire on the release of hostages, which has worked as a pressure lever against Hamas.
With US action, they appear to take the pressure of Hamas and will indirectly encourage Hamas to keep the hostages.
US has defended its action, saying that the resolution is not binding and that it abstained because the resolution did not condemn Hamas.
US National Security Council spokesman spoke in defense of US action. Most analysts say that the action of US is a new dimension, which indicates isolation of Israel by its strongest ally. “it does not represent a shift in our policy” John Kirb insists.
While further saying that the action doesn’t mean a shift or weakened relationship with Israel “we have been consistent in our support ‘for’ a ceasefire as part of a hostage deal. It’s a non-binding resolution, so there is no impact at all on Israel’s ability to continue to go after Hamas”
John Kirb is on what is best described as damage control, as the resolution when not vetoed has a diplomatic implication on Israel. Should Israel go on without obeying the resolution, it paints a picture of disorder and negligence on the side of Israel.
