It’s My Turn, It’s My Turn – Now Do Something
By Invite: Daily Tab24
As Buhari’s second tenure was coming to an end, and scouting for his successor was on, one city grandpa came from Lagos and shouted it was his turn. In Aso Rock, the deafening shout echoed to the point Buhari was disturbed. The city grand pa was audible enough to stir presidential villa.
The grandpa shouted because vibrant youth were already ahead of him in the quest to taking the baton from Buhari. The youth muscled him off track. They bullied him to sit behind. They told him to go and rest and made mockery of him. He was angry and he knew they would stampede him if he tried to drag or muscle his way to Buhari’s position, whose path to was crowded.
Dejected and sour. The grandpa was down and unhappy. He looked at his left, right, front and back. He thought about his youth, how strong he was then, how his fearful muscles faded and lost its fear factor. He thought about his good deeds and felt if he could be heard, his situation would change. So, he took a deep breath, mustered his energy and shouted in his loudest voice ‘It’s My Turn’.
Everyone stood still. They all heard him, loud and clear. The energy he mustered was shocking. The shout left everyone in shock. If such an old man could shout this loudest. The reason for his shout must be important to him. He deserves attention, and he gained the attention of everyone.
To the dismay of the youth, Buhari walked on to him as he seated calmly. Age is stronger than everybody, it was what killed king of the forest. Buhari has come of age, he knows everything, and he showed sympathy to him. They are grandpa – two old cargos, they are prayers answered – we all want to grow old – we pray to be like them someday.
Buhari comforted his fellow grandpa. Gave him a locuzade boost. He needed it to regain the energy cost. The shout took a lot off him. All eyes were on him, Buhari had jettisoned everyone for his fellow.
Like a crying child in need of something he likes but can’t handle, the baton was handed to the grandpa. Buhari has a reason for giving him the baton. It was his turn indeed. He was the oldest. He played a fatherly role when Buhari needed the baton. He worked for the baton since his youth. He fought aggressively for the baton, and his aged skin was as a result of fights for the baton.
Everyone surrendered and the baton was passed on to him. We know he is too old to carry the baton. We know he cannot do anything with the baton. We know he can only play with and adore the baton. But, he deserves benefit of doubt, so, we surrendered.
Now he has the baton and the shout of ‘it’s my turn’ ended. It’s a different reality now. The baton must be used to save lives of millions of people. Now is the time to do something with the baton. Now is not the time to adore or play with the baton. Everyone is waiting for the baton and our lives depend on the baton. We must go back to the grandpa and remind him it’s time to use the baton.
To our greatest surprise, grandpa was asleep with the baton in his hand. He had pieces of biscuits littered on the floor – he slept off after playing with his grandchildren. He seem to only enjoy the baton. He doesn’t really know how to use the baton.
Imagine, famine is in the land, the baton needs to be wielded for food to appear. The baton is a magic wand and grandpa is not aware. How on earth could he be sleeping with the magic baton?
Thieves are stealing our money, natural resources and properties. How could grandpa be sleeping with our magic baton? Kidnappers are kidnapping our loved ones and demanding ransom when this magic baton can stop it. Everything is upside down when we have a baton. How on earth could grandpa be sleeping with our magic baton.
It’s my turn – it’s my turn, now do something with your turn. We have agreed and surrendered, please, show us why it’s your turn. Grandpa cannot tell me he intentionally said and fought for his turn so he could punish us.
Somebody needs to wake grandpa and we are ready to plead for mercy. We are ready to help, but who knows if grandpa will understand the significance of the baton. After this turn, we need to explain to grandpa that the baton is magical and it works with strength, time, dedication, commitment and brain.
We need who can think. Who can avoid sleep. Who can run. Who can fight. Who can endure pains. We don’t need a grandpa whose brain has degenerated and whose only work is to rest while his children fend for him.k
