Happening Now: All Progressive Congress projected to win the Edo governorship election

By Dailytab24.

The All Progressive Congress has been projected to win the 2024 Edo State governorship election after 16 local government election results were officially announced by INEC.

Monday, Kpebholo is coasting to victory in what could be a landslide victory for the APC, which ultimately changes party leadership in the state.

After the 16 local governments collated and declared, the APC candidate leads by 48,000 votes, a margin the PDP candidate cannot close.

Of the two local governments remaining, it’s almost impossible for Asue Ighodalo to tie or extend his tarry against the APC candidate.

In what appears to be a clear indication that the PDP has given up, the party announced that it would protest the results announced, as it accused INEC of colluding with the APC and announced results under duress and influence.

Security has been beefed up in Benin City on Sunday after the PDP threatened to protest against the results announced so far.

The INEC headquarters in the capital of the state has also received more security personnel to ensure law and order.

The results are being announced by Faruq Kuta, the INEC Returning Officer. He is a professor and a vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State. He has also promised to look into the complaints of party agents who accused his local government collation officers.

Final results will be announced this evening after a recess.
