Breaking News: Israel and Hamas agree to a hostage deal

United States President Joe Biden has announced on POTUS 46 official Twitter handle that Israel and Hamas have agreed to a hostage deal.

The agreement was reached after months of negotiations that failed to materialise.

Biden made the announcement despite making such announcements in the past that didn’t go to plan.

It’s unclear why Biden is always the first to make an announcement, instead of leaving the parties involved to make the announcement.

Critics have faulted the President’s rush to the media each time there is a significant move in a positive direction.

They also said that President Joe Biden always rush to make an announcement because he wants to take the credit for the breakthrough in negotiation.

The President continues to face strings of strong criticisms for his handling of the war in the Middle East.

Pro-Palestinian protesters had occupied American Universities in an effort to force the hands of the president to change his policies they alleged was aiding Israel’s war in Gaza.

The President ordered a stop of shipment of weapons to Israel for months, and the policy switch led to criticisms, especially from Republicans and friends of Israel.

“Six weeks ago, I laid out a comprehensive framework for how to achieve a ceasefire and bring the hostages home,” Biden announced on social media platform X, formerlyknownasTwitter.

“There is still work to do, and these are complex issues, but that framework is now agreed to by both Israel and Hamas,” Biden added. “My team is making progress, and I’m determined to get this done.” The announcement concluded.

Recently, President Joe Biden lifted the restriction on shipment of weapons to Israel after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly criticised the administration for withholding the weapons needed to execute the war against Hamas.

The Middle-East war has contributed to the plummeting numbers of the president in the polls. The left and Arab-Americans have shown discontent with the president’s handling of the war.

His Middle-East policy has birth opposition against his reelection. He has also been accused of being behind the war, with protestors calling him out.

The announcement will ease the anger of the left leaning support base of the President, and Biden taking credit for the announcement would automatically place him in a safe position.

War began in Gaza after Hamas invaded Israel under the cover of rockets and carried out a murderous attack on October 7.

Attack in Israel led to the death of 1200 people, with children and mothers targeted.  Over 250 people were kidnapped and taken into Gaza.

Israel declared war on Gaza with the aim to rescue its hostages and destroy Hamas governing capability in the Strip.

The war according to Hamas, has killed more than 38,000 Palestinians. The terror group doesn’t differentiate between Hamas terrorists and civilians.

Israel has sustained its “difficult” war in the Strip while being targeted by Hezbollah in the North. All Iranian axis of terror have come up against Israel.

If a hostage deal is finally agreed, there would be a ceasefire for the second time since the war began.
