Ronaldinho makes unbelievable comment against Brazilian team, Raphinha replies
The Ballon di’or winner has attacked his country’s team for what he described as inexperienced crop and worst Brazilian team in recent years.
Naymer is the star player of the national team, but since his transfer to Saudi Arabia, he has been nursing injury and might likely not take part in the upcoming Copa América.
The team also has Vinicious Junior, who played a startling role for Real Madrid’s Champions League successful campaign. And substantially in the quest for world best.
While the national team is a different brand, compared to Real which has world class and experienced players, Vini is expected to still handle the pressure of leading the team, but Ronaldinho doesn’t buy into that.
“That’s it folks, I’ve had enough,” he wrote on his Instagram account, insinuating that he has been keeping it to himself for quite a long time.
The former world best player said he was finding it “hard to find the spirit to watch the game” (Brazilian games). Saying that it’s a bitter time for his nation.
“This is perhaps one of the worst teams in recent years, it has no respectable leaders, only average players for the majority”
Labelling the Squad average is one of the strangest comments expected of Ronaldinho, who is expected to be a source of motivation for his national team.
He went further to explaining that he has been around for a long time in the business of football and has never seen a team as poor as this crop of Brazilian team.
He berated the players for playing without their hearts “a lack of love for the shirt”. The team has been second best to Argentina in recent years.
He finally declared that he would never watch his team and the entire Copa Américan games.
Aside watching the game, he also said that he would not celebrate national victories of the team. This then points to a different factor behind his criticism.
Raphinha quickly played down the comments, and noted that the former Barcelona talisman asked for tickets to watch the national team.
“Ronaldinho’s statement? I don’t know if that was an adv or not but… few days ago, I’m told he asked Vini Jr for tickets to come see our games”
Raphinha confessed his astonishment, knowing that the comments coming at a strategic time when Copa América is around the corner could distract the team and demoralise them.
He finally declared that he doesn’t believe what Ronaldinho said.
Ronaldinho has been supportive of the team and has not shown any dissatisfaction until now. He is a good friend of Naymer, and has been a motivation for his country.
The comments will anger Brazilian teams, as much as the coach who knows such comments could prove costly for his young team.
Brazil has come down the pecking order in South America, while Argentina has taken the top position.
Copa América is an opportunity for the players to prove Ronaldinho wrong, but they have to stop Argentina who are playing with the pride of another star added to their jersey.
