Read the conditions Russia’s Vladimir Putin gave to end Ukrainian war
MOSCOW: Hope is in sight, but may not be grabbed as Vladimir Putin gave conditions upon which he would withdraw his troops from Ukraine and permanently halt the war.
The conditions are coming a time Ukraine is about to host a peace conference where 90 countries will be in attendance.
The conditions appear more like a limited victory, but underlined what has long been feared as the reason for the war. Putin wants more territories and he is doing everything to get them. That was what had been said of the war, even though Putin had denied it.
Putin noted that he sanctioned a “military operation” as he initially termed the war, to denazify and demilitarilise his neighbor.
His reasons for the war are considered vague, owing to the simple fact that Ukraine has no Nazi intention, and independently building its military capabilities to defend itself.
The conditions outlined by Putin seek to be handed over political and military control of four frontline regions. The regions include the areas under Russian’s control and those they aspire to control.
The conditions also included the cause of the fight, which include a guarantee that Ukraine will never join NATO.
Ukraine’s commitment to joining NATO was what caused the war, with Putin saying there was agreement that NATO would not expand its eastern flank. According to Putin.
Ukraine’s decision to joining NATO is justified, as it aims not to attack or cause political problems for Russia, rather, to safeguard its territories and future.
Ukraine committed no crime in seeking security guarantee for its citizens, a move Putin’s dictatorial thirst pushed into unjustified war.
Ukraine is fighting back to take over Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia, the four regions Russia wants as a condition to end the war. It has also rejected the conditions set by Moscow, opining that conceding territories will lead to more concessions in the future.
Despite constantly claiming that Western sanctions have no significant effect on it, Moscow has said that the West will also lift all the sanctions against it, and return to pre-war status quo. Russia appears to be determined to taking territories.
“In 2014, Russia took over Cremea without significant military opposition from Ukraine and that may have motivated for demanding more territories” Dailytab24 opines.
“All these basic principal conditions must be set through fundamental international agreements. Naturally, this involves the cancellation of all western sanctions against Russia.” Putin says, seeking guarantees if his demands are considered.
Putin seems to be proud of the innocent citizens of Ukraine his bombs are killing, while making reference of their safety as a condition to accepting his demands.
His words appear to put the burden of humanity on the West and Ukraine while positioning himself as a heartless bloodsucking dictator.
“Today we are making another specific, real peace offering. If Kyiv and western capitals refuse it as they did before, then that’s their issue at the end of the day — their political and moral responsibility for the continued bloodshed,” Putin said.
He also boasted that he would be victorious in his quest to taking more territories in Ukraine if his demands are not considered.
“Obviously, the facts on the ground at the front will continue to change, not in the Kyiv regime’s favour, and the conditions to begin negotiations will be different.”
Ukraine is fighting and has made gains in recent days since US approved use if its weapons to target military locations from which they are attacked. France has also warned that if it warrants sending troops to save Ukraine, that it would happily do that.
