Gulf of Aden Where 49 African Migrants Died Is Under Attack, Find Out Why
The US Central Command has announced that cargo carrier in the Gulf of Aden came under intense attack. The attack was carried out by Houthis, a militant group strongly backed by Iran.
Same confirmation could not be made when migrant vessel sank off the Gulf. Dozens of African migrants were confirmed dead while others were declared missing.
Houthis may have strategically seized the Gulf, declaring it a combat zone. The decision to declare the sea route a combat area is as a result of Gaza War.
Iran is the major sponsor of terrorists in the Middle East, these terrorists have same mission and ideology, which is to fight Israel and exterminate it.
By declaring the Gulf a combat area, any ship taking the route is at risk of being hit by missile or hijacked. This has posed significant threat to businesses around the globe.
Gulf of Aden is a significant route for businesses around the globe, due to its short distances to various major ports around the world.
The recent attack by the Iran-backed Houthis follows months of attack on cargoes, and military vessels. The terrorist organisation has sworn to make life unbearable for business owners and vessel owners.
“Today the Iranian-backed Houthis launched two anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCM) into the Gulf of Aden. Both missiles struck M/V Verbena, a Palauan-flagged, Ukrainian-owned, Polish-operated bulk cargo carrier. M/V Verbena most recently docked in Malaysia and was enroute to Italy carrying wood construction material. M/V Verbena reported damage and subsequent fires on board.
The crew continues to fight the fire. One civilian mariner was severely injured during the attack,” US Central Command said.
The attack, according to Houthis will continue until the war in Gaza come to halt. The terrorist organisation declared war on cargoes belonging or going to Israel, but the approach has changed over time.
The terrorist organisation now targets every ship seen on the sea. Military vessels are also targeted in what appears to be major escalation.
US in conjuction with UK and France had launched a limited attack against the Iran-backed terrorist organisation, while the attack was successful, it didn’t do much to deter the terrorists who quickly came back to business after the attack.
The frustration of vessel owners have reached a fever peak, with most owners choosing different, but distant routes to protect their vessels.
Since the Iran backed terrorist group declared war on Israeli vessels, they have not been able to successfully target Israeli vessels.
Rather, they have targeted an individually own vessel that is co-owned by Israeli citizen. Immediately the announcement was made, Israel stopped its vessels and chose a different route.
US led alliance had declared action against Houthis, barring a couple of attacks at the Houthis, they have not been able to stop the terrorist group from successfully attacking vessels on the Gulf
Israel now prefers to import goods through land. Vessels anchor in Saudi Arabia where they are transported on land to Israel.
