Israel considering expelling senior United Nations official
It’s only a matter of time before Gulad completes his term as Israel’s ambassador to the UN, but while the clock ticks Gilad Erdan still has a lot to disclose.
He has been vocal especially since the war in Gaza began. Either speaking about the ill treatment of Israel at UN or convincing countries to support Israel.
He has had the chance to serve Israel in the most challenging period of the country’s history. A time Palestinian propaganda has taken over the UN.
“Within days, Israel will study the possibility of expelling senior United Nations officials from its territory,” he told Israeli public radio.
The move to expell certain UN senior officials is coinciding with the time UN commission of enquiry had found Israel culpable of committing crime against humanity.
Israel has been at war with United Nations after it accused the organisation of taking side with the enemy of Israel. It also said UN is mostly made up of Islamic countries who want the destruction of Israel.
“The time has come for Israel to seriously consider the pros and cons of withdrawing from the United Nations.” he hinted.
The move to withdraw from the UN will not stop UN from probing Israel and issuing non-binding orders.
The battle with UN is headed for the worst since the creation of the international organisation.
Israel directly accused UN workers of taking part in the killing of over 1200 Israelis on October 7 when Hamas terrorists and Palestinian Islamic Jihad group invaded the country.
Israel presented what is said were evidences to back up the accusation. With pictures of UN workers responsible for refugees in Palestine who took part in the massacre.
While taking out the terrorist, Israel Defence Forces killed UN workers who crossed the border to help massacre citizens of Israel.
UN workers in Palestine are largely made up of civilians of Palestinian origin, and it has been proven over time that civilians in Palestine aid Hamas activities.
During the course of the war in Gaza, Israeli Defence Forces have been able to identify UN infrastructures used for terror purposes.
The activities of UN workers in Gaza have come into significant question, especially after Hamas operatives were found to be using UN House as command and control centres across the Gaza Strip.
Israel has disclosed their dissatisfaction with UN and have threatened to close down their offices in Israel.
UN denied knowing about use of its buildings for terror purposes. It also denied all accusations made against it.
The recent consideration disclosed by Israel’s ambassador to UN appears to be a new stage in the strategic battle between UN and Israel.
UN court recently agreed with accusation by South Africa against Israel, while subtly cautioning Israel to avoid actions that could lead to crime against humanity.
Israel frowns remarkably at some of the pronouncements made by UN and sees such moves as direct attack on the sovereignty of the country.
Israel is not signatory to some of the statutes of the United Nations and have questioned UN jurisdiction.
Should Israel expell UN senior officers, it would mark a new phase in the battle between the organisation and Israel.
In the past, Israel has denied visas to UN officers in protest against what it described as Antisemitism.
