Missing military aircraft – Malawians fear their Vice-President likely dead

The official status declared by the government of Malawi is ‘a missing Vice President’ but Malawians fear their Vice President is likely dead.
They believe efforts are only aimed to confirm the news since the military aircraft carrying him went off radar.
“All efforts by aviation authorities to make contact with the aircraft since it went off the radar have failed thus far” Malawian Government said in a statement hours after keeping mum to manage the situation .
The aircraft was carrying Saulos Chilima, the Vice President of the country. The government officially declared the aircraft missing, while confirming that further efforts are ongoing to locating the missing military aircraft. This is according to AFP.
President Lazarus Chakwera has ordered significant mobilization of the country’s forces – to use everything at its disposal to locate the aircraft. Search is on the way, with more contacts made.
While there is yet to be official announcement by the Malawian government, rumours have begun to fly that the Vice President is dead. While official statement is still pending; Malawians are already anticipating bad news.
While Saulos or any of the 9 passengers are yet to make any contact with the government, fear continues to grow that the inevitable may have happened.
Recently, Iranian President’s helicopter was declared missing, by the time it was found, Ebrahim the President was dead.
The fear is spreading in Malawi that the news of their Vice President is following same trajectory.
Nothing has been made official yet, while the supporters of the Vice President are praying for the safe return of the Vice President.
The Vice President was once accused of corruption but was acquitted afterwards. He has no notable political foe in the country.
The aircraft carrying him was supposed to make a landing few minutes after airborne at 9.00 am local time. The 51 years old Vice President is still missing.
