Biafra Heroes Remembrance – There Was No Need For Further Bloodshed On 30th May

Sadly, on each 30th May, instead of stay in state of sober and reflect on the sacrifices of our heroes past – who died fighting to give us a life worth living – who died fighting for an independent State that had gave us a level playing ground in the world – we mourn more deaths – caused by our sheer inability to control our emotions.

When some people pick up arms in the name of observing Biafra Heroes Day, go to military check points and shoot soldiers and run away. I see young men driven by emotion, in the absence of reason or critical thinking, constituting a nuisance or making mess of our heroes.

Had they the ability to think, they would know they put our people in harm’s way without any reason. Once after the shooting, soldiers are deployed to the area and Biafrans are defenselessly killed by rampaging soldiers in a retaliatory mission.

The worst is those Biafrans are abandoned by those that shot soldiers – they are abandoned to die – on the day they were supposed to be reflecting.

They die on a day of pain, a day they should rather be counting their cost and fashioning their path to a better life those who died fought for.

The idiocy of the men who childishly raise their guns without putting first the safety of Biafrans or considering the worth of their deaths is magnified by another idiot somewhere, who uploads the video in celebration of what?

I have been consistent with putting the safety of Biafrans first, or even if death is inevitable, it should be for something that worth it.

I have asked myself couple of times – are we fighting for Biafra or we are creating insecurity to exploit it. Is this about restoring Biafra or creating a situation to benefit a few?

Before a patriotic Biafran takes up arm and confront – he should critically assess the cons and pros on Biafrans.

He should ask himself, can I defend Biafrans from the consequences of my actions? You don’t hit a rod and run away while defenseless people take the bullets you should stop for them.

Let us respect 30th May and understand it’s a sacred day. A day we remember over 3.5 million lives lost should not add one more life.

A day we remember souls that perished in the struggle for good should not be made a day of further mourning. We should consider we have lost so much and start defending everyone.

I have often said that another Biafran war is not a taboo; but it must be planned with defensive capability.

It must be focused on realization of the purpose and accomplishment of the mission.

We have to sit down and discuss what is possible and what is not possible to make most of the condition we are in.

If it’s about creating insecurity and risking lives of Biafrans for nothing; or to feed the ego of a few, then we are in for the worst.

I don’t believe in igniting a fire and running away for the fire to burn Biafrans. I believe in igniting a fire and standing on your feet to take care of the blaze. Simple and short!
