Israeli Soldiers Kill Egyptian Soldier In A Fire Exchange
Since taking over the Rafah crossing, Israel appeared to have angered Egypt, after maneuvering without agreeing to Egyptian terms and conditions, or even seeking a prior permission.
The crossing is largely controlled by Egypt, although Hamas has upper hand on the other side of the border.
Egypt had threatened to cut ties and walk away from decades of treaty if Israel took over Rafah, but reports said Israel would takeover the crossing in coordination with Egypt, dousing tension of possible regional war.
The operation in Rafah has taken toll on Hamas, whose only way of smuggling arms has been blocked. Since incursion into Rafah, Israeli Defence Forces Have found tunnels connecting Gaza Strip with Egypt- where arms are smuggled into the Strip.
Taking over Rafah crossing would definitely lead to diplomatic rows between Egypt and Israel, but President Biden has smartly reigned in Egypt. Pushing them to maintain the status quo.
Egypt quickly stopped engagement with Israel to facilitate aids into Gaza Strip as soon as Rafah was seized by Israeli Defence Forces.
The move is aimed to distance the country from any support of Israeli incursion. Egypt didn’t want to be seen by other Arab countries as being in coordination or supporting by any means Israelis incursion.
The shootout between Israeli and Egyptian forces came as a shock, owing to the fact Egyptians recently agreed to move aids through Erez Crossing after initially insisting it would go through Rafah.
There has not been any known reason for the shootout, Egypt and Israel are yet to make official statements regarding the shooting. The troops exchanged fire, which led to the death of an Egyptian soldier.
There was no prior sign that the two countries were falling apart to the extent of exchanging fire.
It is strongly believed that the fire might have been a personal move by rogue soldiers who may have acted on their own accord.
It’s still unclear the side that first opened fire. There must have been a diplomatic move on the horizon, and official statements are expected soon.
The statements are expected to calm nerves and bring about status quo. As at the time of filing this report, permission has been given for publication of the incident, according to The Times Of Israel.
Recently, the son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu uploaded a video of Israeli reservist making incendiary statements in what could be best described as mutiny.
The soldier has long been found and arrested. Israeli military leadership reacted strongly, making it clear such actions will not be tolerated at it’s against the IDF values.
The news of exchange of fire between the two countries is a welcomed development to Hamas, who has been desperately looking for a way to instigate other groups and countries against the IDF.
The terrorist organisation has been largely destroyed and are at the mercy of Israeli Defence Forces. The terrorist organisation has called on Arab countries to come together and fight Israel. A call that fell on deaf ears, with the destruction of the terrorist organisation imminent.
Hezbollah, affiliate terrorist group has sustained daily launching of rockets, but that has not affected IDF momentum against the terrorist group.
