A report exclusively furnished to Dailytab24 shows there is an ongoing underground plan to arrest the suspended governor of Rivers State. A source familiar with the political instability in the state confided in this online newspaper. The source further said deliberations and considerations are ongoing on what the public reaction might be, and that is why the arrest is being delayed until this moment.
The suspended governor will be charged with misappropriation or treason if he is eventually arrested. The Department of Security Service will take up the matter if the presidency goes with treason. Their leader has been informed, but an order has not been issued to the personnel. It is still a classified matter. The source noted that the president is extremely angry with the suspended governor. EFCC are also on standby should he be charged with misappropriation.
“Barring any last-minute change, the federal government has hatched a plan to arrest Sim Fubara on grounds of funding militants against the country. The arrest is taking a little bit of time because the dust of the emergency rule declared has not settled. His arrest immediately could heat up the polity, and it would not be good for anybody in the country,” the source said when queried.
“There is also the plan B, which is gathering evidence from the sole administrator to enable EFCC to make the arrest on grounds of misappropriation and embezzlement. The two plans are on the table and going on as I speak.”
“Fubara is being seen as a major opposition to the president, and Tinubu is extremely angry with him for disrespecting him. Tinubu waded into the Rivers problem last year and gave Sim Fubara directives on what he should do; Fubara agreed but went back and continued the fight.
“Within the presidency, Fubara is being considered a stubborn man who wants to use his state as an oil-producing state and the fragility of the Rivers security to stand up to the president. At a point, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu began to see the problem in the state as a direct confrontation with Sim Fubara. The matter is not as simple as it appears.
“The presidency is speaking with multiple constitutional lawyers to know the constitutional implications of making the arrest. They all agree that opposition to the emergency rule is already raising dust and that arrest may lead to chaos.
“Fubara stands suspended, and immunity is no longer covering him. The presidency is considering the public reaction and no longer the constitutional implication if evidence is found.
“The action of Dr George Nwaeke is the final phase to making the arrest. The resigned head of service was told to report to the department of state security, and they want to go through a formality where it would be an invitation extended to Fubara, and from there detain him on grounds mentioned earlier.
“Dr George Nwaeke has to go public to disclose things he knew and add things that will turn the public against Fubara. He is expected to do the work of giving the dog a bad name to justify the arrest.“
Meanwhile, Dr George Nwaeke is presently in Abuja and is disclosing what appears to be a serious crime against Nigeria committed by Sim Fubara. The resigned head of service accused Sim Fubara of being behind renewed militancy to sabotage the country’s economy to blackmail and frustrate Tinubu.
Dr George further said that Sim Fubara is funding criminals within the state to target the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. While the destruction of the State Assembly structure was carried out by the governor, Dr George continued to say without proof that the suspended governor is funding Ijaw youths against the administration and re-election of the president.
The wife of Dr George has raised alarm that her husband was either taken hostage or compromised to speak against Governor Sim Fubara. In a video circulating online, the wife of the former head of service was crying to the suspended governor to help him, as her husband was no longer acting at his own free will.
Soon after, the former head of service replied to his wife that he was not arrested or held hostage and that everything was fine with him. Fubara has denied the accusations against him.
Nyesome Wike handed over to Governor Fubara, but they soon had fallout which resulted in significant political instability and the subsequent declaration of a state of emergency. The former governor is also responsible for most of the appointments Fubara made in the state.
“Dr George Nwaeke is Wike’s loyalist; he was appointed to check and balance Governor Fubara for Wike. It doesn’t matter what the governor says now; he is about to be taken in unless the presidency reconsiders the plan due to potential public reaction.
“It won’t be easy to arrest a state governor after suspending him; it’s more of an authoritarian or military rule thing, but the presidency is convinced it can handle whatever pressure that comes up. The only fear is what the public reaction might look like, and once Dr George Nwaeke is able to take care of the public by turning the public against the suspended governor or swinging opinion against him, the presidency will sweep in and make the arrest.”
In days and weeks and months to come, the political instability in Rivers State will make or mar the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
