New Strategy: IPOB forms a political wing

Some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra have formed a political wing they said is designed to bring the right balance to continue the fight for the wellbeing of Ndigbo.

The new political wing consist of prominent members of the organisation who are exploring opportunities to end the marginalisation of Ndigbo through political involvement.

The leadership of the group in a statement signed by its spokesman, Mazi Nwachukwu Emereonye, noted that the reason for floating the new wing is to enable collective efforts and engagement aimed towards getting the best solution to the problem of Ndigbo in Nigeria.

Emereonye, in the statement, said that they tend to have a common ground and close the gap between the political class and the common class in the region.

Recall that IPOB since it’s inception could not find a common ground with the politicians in the South-East region region, giving politicians the leverage to squander and misappropriate the funds that would have gone into the good of the people.

The group said that with the formation of the political wing, the people who want political solution to the problem of the region can come in and get the job done.

They also said that the political wing will do more about convincing the people to embrace politics and sensitise them on the need to get involve.

The statement reads, “We have decided to make public the political wing of IPOB, we have been on this journey for quite some years, but we now believe this is the right time to kick off. We want to give our people the platform to try another means

“We have seen what is happening in Gaza and Lebanon, armed struggle is proving quite harder to execute, so, there are millions of people that don’t want such scenarios, they want a stable Igbo nation.

“You take a look at what happened with Scotland, we can try that model and start getting it right. We want to save our people from being condemned to one option, which is do or die, we seriously want options to be on the table.

“The politicians in the Southeast are very happy, they want our people to continue to shout IPOB in a distant column, so they could be able to continue to kill them and mismanage their commonwealth. So, with this wing, we can put a stop to it and engage in indigenous politics where we can decide our future.

“The political wing will connect the dots and improve the situation of the people. The wing will hold politicians to account, and ensure participation to change the situation of Ndigbo and build a brighter future.

“With this political wing, we can bring an end to killings, insecurity and change the security reality and economic reality of our region”

“We are open to suggestions and discussions on the way forward with our Facebook page IPOB Political Wing and will publicise our contact lines and physical office for smooth running of affairs”.
