Edo INEC has urged the public to shun news making the rounds that all results have been updated on the INEC server and declared by INEC.
The Edo INEC said that results for the election have not reached its state headquarters, where they would be sorted and counted.
Some online news platforms reported that almost all the results in all the polling booths in the state have been electronically updated.
The reports led to rumours that a particular candidate has won the election, which state INEC denied and urged citizens to be patient and wait for its official announcement.
INEC continues to struggle to abide by the immediate update of election results automatically to its server, which was signed into law prior to the presidential election last year.
It’s strongly believed that if election results are uploaded to the INEC server immediately, it would help curtail rigging, but that policy has not been strongly embraced by the election umpire.
