Can Iran really exact harsh punishment on Israel
What Happened
The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas political chief in Iran, is a disgrace to everything Iran had claimed in the past, ranging from being a regional power to security competitiveness.
If Ismail Haninya could be picked out in Iran, then, it’s clear that nobody is safe in Iran, including the president and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.
Israel has shown the class needed to humble a loudmouthed country. It is way bigger than Iran and can do what pleases it in Iran, deep inside Iran, for that matter.
Had the assassination of Hamas political chief not happened in Tehran, we had had the argument that Israel cannot reach the most sensitive cities of the Islamic Republic, but there is no argument, Israel is a class above Iran.
Iran has a duty to restore its lost dignity. It knows that its sovereignty was broken, and a deterrence is on the card. The Islamic Republic must react in the strongest way possible to reassure the Islamic resistance groups that the head of the octopus is intact. It must muster everything it has now to lift itself from the slum of shame it found itself.
“The criminal and the terrorist Zionist regime martyred our dear guest in our house and made us bereaved and now have paved the way for its harsh punishment. We consider it our duty to avenge his blood in this bitter and difficult incident that happened in the territory of the Islamic Republic” Iranian Supreme Leader said.
Pezeshkian knew what had happened. The sovereignty of the Islamic Republic had just been undermined in the most humiliating way. He made it clear that he would defend the territory of the Islamic Republic and make Israel regret its cowardly action.
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated “Zionists gang of criminals, murderers and terrorists… undoubtedly, this crime of the Zionist regime will face a harsh and painful response from the powerful and huge resistance front , especially Islamic Iran”
The attack in Iran deeply rattled the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they were screaming, and only if wishes were horses, they had rode in troops to Israel and ended its existence.
They initially kept mum and promised to investigate the source of the attack as Israel didn’t claim responsibility or made any comment regarding the assassination.
While Iran was boiling with words, Israel was busy speaking about the assassination of Hezbollah’s most senior operative who had 5 million dollar bounty on his head.
Jerusalem hours before the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh did confirm the assassination of the most wanted terrorist in Beirut.
Israel refused to speak about the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh like it meant nothing to the Jewish State.
Iran has traded strong words that have been met by defeaning silence from Israel, making it clear to them that Israel has no interest in words but action.
The humiliation was too much, and Israel refused to give the Islamic Republic the comfort of the exchange of words.
Can Iran Fulfil The Threats
When Israel bombed the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria, the Islamic Republic dared target Israel for the first time in decades.
Over 300 missiles were launched against Israel, but 99% of them couldn’t reach Israel.
The humiliation was not well spoken about in the media because the ability to muster the courage to attack Israel was seen as a credit in the Islamic world, even though only 1% of the missiles impacted.
The Islamic Republic will dare another attack as they have confirmed. A report in NYT also stated that the Supreme Leader has ordered the IRGC to retaliate the assassination. The shape or form the attack will come in still unclear.
Standing in the way of Iran is the United States of America, and the assurance that Israel will be defended from any attack has been retaliated by the Pentagon.
Last time, the United States led coalition stopped the missiles launched by the Islamic State against Israel. If Iran is in doubt of the United States’ commitment to Israel’s security, it needs to tune in to the TV and listen to Lyod Austin once more.
The United States and Israel have had their differences made public and given the enemies of the Jewish State a false sense of disagreement and cracks, but in hard time, the United States comes out stronger for their strongest allies, irrespective of their differences. Israel and the United States of America will continue to share iron clad bonds.
Israel’s Position
After the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, Israel convened a security cabinet meeting to discuss the threats emanating from the series of events that had happened. The Jewish State is aware of the capabilities of its enemies and has said it is prepared for all scenarios.
The Jewish State has confessed they are not looking for war but determined to change the status quo in the entire Middle East.
The move will see Hezbollah leave the northern border of Israel. It would also ensure the end of Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip and the dawn of a civilian administration in the Strip.
Israel has also made it clear that it would target all Hamas leaders anywhere they are and will settle scores with anyone that attacks it. the tit for tat approach by Israel has led to skirmishes in the north and far away Yemen, where Houthis reign supreme.
Israel without the United States of America can still defend itself, but it will pay a costly price for it.
Israel is suspected to possess nukes, and its military hardware is more sophisticated than that of Iran and its terror proxies. In the event of existential war without option, Israel will win Iran.
Iran’s Position
Iran is determined to hurt Israel but continues to use its terror proxies in the Middle East to carry out the mission. The Islamic Republic has stayed away from direct confrontation, only opting that after its embassy was attacked.
Iran is expected to continue to use Hezbollah, Hamas, and Houthis to attack Israel, knowing that a direct confrontation will play well into the gallery of the Jewish State that is looking for a way to stop its weapons enrichment program.
Iran is on the verge of possessing a nuclear weapon, and Israel has sworn to stop it. the possession of a nuclear weapon will amount to the destruction of Israel.
Iran has sworn to obliterate Israel from the earth and has often claimed that their quest to possess nuclear weapons is aimed to destroy Israel.
Israel on its part has upper hand in advent of war, it can maneuver and strike Iran freely, while Iran will find it hard to strike back successfully with Israel’s air defense proving superior than the Iranian air defense.
Conclusion
Iran will definitely find it hard to successfully punish Israel, except continue to try with its terror proxies and, at worst, directly target Israel. The more they target Israel is the more they feel powerless as its attacks are always stopped before it reached Israel.
