Opinion | If President Tinubu turns Nigeria into Lagos, we will live under sea
By Invitation – Dailytab24.
Despite all the boasting, Lagos remains a poorly planned city. A city devoid of better future. An overcrowded city that is dangerous for citizens and developers.
Just a drop of water and the entire city got submerged. Do not get it twisted entirely, of course, a drop of water. Your properties are at risk of being submerged now and in the future.
It took uninterrupted rain for days, before Dubai got submerged, more, artificially created rain. You know the story, so, don’t tell me any city could suffer flooding.
The last time flood occured in Libya, thousands of people were washed away. Go and check, flood comes with news of death, mostly.
So, what happened in Lagos cannot be rightly called flood. It was a normal rain in a city that had no drainage, and rain-flow lost its path.
So, Lagos has no drainage to start with. How on earth do you fancy a city without drainage – proper planning.
How can you be guaranteed safety in the future? So, Lagosians sold everywhere, and the State got crammed.
They sold drainage and sold both sea line. They sold their hearts as much as they sold their lands. A city is not measured by number of houses or by the number of hotels, but by strategic planning.
You want to buy more lands in Lagos, just remember there is a projection by an expert that the State could be submerged in the future.
Of course, it could sound like attack, but there is a popular saying, even though you deem it nonsense, there is sense in every nonsense. There is no smoke without fire.
President Bola Amed Tinubu during his campaign said he would turn Nigeria into Lagos. At least, after the drop of rain that caused flooding, you can as well join me to tell him he should leave Nigeria to be Nigeria.
He should instead work hard to restore the dignity left of the country. Address excruciating pains inflation caused Nigerians and take Nigeria back to pre-Buhari regime.
Back to our topic, and here we are, people are swimming back to their overrated Lekki homes after spending good time in Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Rivers, Akwaibom, Benue, and Delta.
They won’t buy Ferrari and Mercedes Maybatch, they have to look for yatch and boat, while those that can’t afford boats can go for caneo. They must get home and feel at home after all.
So, let me kindly take this opportunity to inform you that in Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Delta, Rivers, Akwaibom, etc. We have hills and plane lands we can make the most beautiful cities in Africa.
A city we can plan strategically to become a cutting edge city that befits this digital wold. A city we won’t be afraid of flood every year.
Think home is the message, and if you care, for the purpose of emphasis, Lagos is at the risk of permanently being submerged in the future.
A wise man doesn’t wait for the rain before making a shelter.
