Read what Israel’s Prime Minister said about possible civil war in Israel

JERUSALEM | Afraid of the country descending into civil war amidst the existential war Israel is fighting, remarks were made to speak commonsense to citizens setting the country on fire.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made key remarks yesterday at the memorial ceremony for the fallen of the Altalena, at the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery in Tel Aviv:

The remarks were made to douse tension, after protesters changed their protest gear, burning tyres and creating tension in the country while calling for early election.

The protesters now hide behind the call for the return of hostages. They mount significant pressure on the Prime Minister to accept hostage deal and conduct new election.

Opposition in Israel has been calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin, accusing him of failing to protect Israel against the crude October 7 attack by Hamas that aimed to destroy Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to resign forced the supporters of the opposition to the streets. Their call quickly descended into chaos of recent, calling for early election and hostage deal.

U.S is leading the pack for a hostage deal, but Hamas appears to be stagnant. The terrorist organisation has refused to be flexible, demanding a direct end to war without process. They insist only on that condition will they accede to a hostage deal.

Back home, protesters demand of the Prime Minister to accept the demands of Hamas, which Benjamin said is unacceptable. He is rather committed to the destruction of Hamas.

Israeli leader now uses any opportunity he sees to speak about the protest and its financiers, insisting it’s a wrong time to do what they are doing.

“I want to believe that the lessons of the Altalena have been learned and internalized. Division – is weakness. Unity – is strength. We are fighting on several fronts: In the south – until Hamas is eliminated and all of our hostages are returned” he said while opening his short speech that was uploaded on his social media handles.

He reminded the protesters and those causing public disorder that Israel is fighting on all fronts and should be supported, not attacked internally

“In the north – until we restore all of our residents securely to their homes. In the east – we are working to prevent Iran from encircling us in a chokehold and from achieving nuclear weapons that are designed to destroy us. But there is one war that cannot be and must not be – there will be no civil war” he said.

In what appears to be a defiant message to the protesters, he indirectly made it clear to them that their demands will not be met.

By virtue of his refusal, Israel will not hold early election and neither will a deal that would amount to defeat of Israel be accepted.

He further reminded majority of Israeli citizens that those demanding for early election and acceptance of dangerous hostage deal are extremists and minority.

“There is an extremist, vocal and – I regret – occasionally violent minority, that is organized and financed on an unimaginable scale. But it does not represent the majority of our people. Most of the people are behind our fighters who want, and are striving for, victory over our enemies.”

The speech of the Prime Minister once more brings to the awareness of the protesters and their sponsors that he is not ready to surrender.
