After months and weeks of preparing for the prestigious European tournament, the first game starts today by 8 pm Nigerian time.
Germany versus Scotland will be the first match. A match Germany is expected to win. Scotland remains the underdogs in the contest and entire tournament.
As expected, there would be trouble in paradise in grouping of the teams, and this time, group B is the home of devil. Three top teams have been pitched against each other.
In each group, two teams are expected to qualify for the next stage, and before the second stage commences, we will disappointedly see one of the European heavyweights leave the tournament.
Spain, Croatia and Italy in Group B, it’s now destined that one among the three heavyweights would leave the tournament before the second round begins.
Group B has Spain, Croatia, Italy and Albania. Albania is expected to lose all its matches because of finding itself in a group of death. While victory among the three heavyweights will decide who makes it out to the round of sixteen. Expect upsets from Albania?
England is in a fair Group C, with Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia. While no country is a walk in the park, each country must put the required effort if they want to make it out of the group stage. Complacency can cause a major upset.
Germany is in Group A, alongside Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland. The group is considered a fair group, with Germany expected to make it out of the group. The group will be tough crack with each team. European tournament has proven to be unpredictable, but Germany is favorite in the group.
Group D has Poland, Netherlands, Austria and France. Group D is another group that is close to Group B in tough. The group will be a group to watch with upsets expected. France is a clear favorite to win the group, but they have tough teams to challenge, making it a tough call to make.
Group E has Belgium, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine. The group is fair, with Belgium that is gradually shedding off its golden era, where the likes of De Bryune and Hazard couldn’t win any trophy for the country. They are expected to make it in the group.
Ukraine will put up a fight despite being at war. The country is desperately trying to make use of every opportunity it has to promote the country and tell Vladimir Putin that the country is not down.
Russia under Putin started an unjust war against the country, which has led to deaths and destructions in the country. Football doesn’t condone politics; so we may not see political messages when goals are scored by the country.
Group F is the last on the list which contains Turkiye, Georgia, Portugal and Czechia. Portugal is a team with wealth of talents and experienced players. They are expected to come out first in the group while the rest fight for the remaining spot. Christiano Ronaldo maybe playing his last Euro and will definitely have the strong desire to make this one memorable again.
