President Bola Tinubu missed his steps and fell on Wednesday while boarding a presidential vehicle at the 2024 Democracy Day event.
The incident occurred immediately after Tinubu arrived at Abuja’s Eagles Square, which served as the programme venue.
He briefly lost his footing as he was about to step onto the car but quickly regained his balance.
A video of the incident shows the President slipped as he was about to step into the vehicle surrounded by men of the Armed Forces and some of his personal aides.
Tinubu who wore a white native attire popularly known as agbada and his signature cap, struggled to save himself by holding on to the vehicle, but landed on the ground while his aides rushed to support him back to his feet.
The parade later continued as the president waved to the crowd while the vehicle slowly made its way through.
The event at Eagle Square was part of a series of events to mark the country’s Democracy Day celebration.
