President Bola Tinubu has removed Solomon Arase, a former Inspector General of Police as the chairman of Police Service Commission (PSC).
Though, his removal follows the expiration of his tenure as the PSC chief.
Mr Tinubu also appointed retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu as the new chairman of PSC.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the spokesman of the president disclosed this in a statement.
In addition to DIG Argungu’s appointment as chairman, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani has been appointed as secretary while DIG Taiwo Lakanu (retd.) is to serve as a member of the commission.
These appointments according to Ngelale are subject to confirmation by the Senate, with other commission members expected to be appointed in due course.
Mr Tinubu also appointed Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund with immediate effect.
He stressed the importance of integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal in the discharge of these roles for the benefit of the Nigeria Police and the nation as a whole.
