Trending – Recently Deposed Emir Of Kano Hired Thugs And Miscreants
While the supporters and sympathizers of deposed Kano Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero were protesting and displaying their frustrations on some streets of Kano, reinstated Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II waved as he walked on out of the palace in the city to a raucous cheers of the people of the city.
Deposed in a manner seen as cruelly targeting of opposition, Muhammadu Sanusi II was deposed by the past government of the state. In what was a significant politically orchestrated witch hunt, Sanusi II left the palace for the sake of peace. His exit ushered in the now deposed Emir who had fallen out of favour with the Kano State Government.
Sanusi II is known for his outspokenness, often advising the government on what needs to be done to salvage the deteriorating economy of the country. He is a firm pro-diversification of the economy and had previously called for proper accounting of the crude oil export in the country.
The now reinstated Emir was critical of the government of Muhammadu Buhari and the past State Governor, which played into the hands of Bayero. There was no desperation when Sanusi II left the seat of the traditional power of the state, he respected himself and the legal order that relieved him of his position.
Violence In The State
On social media, there have been reports of violence in the state, but the state government has debunked any such happening. The order that deposed Bayero was countered through a last minute court order, but the state government went ahead with the reinstatement of Sanusi II which led to protest by the supporters of Bayero.
Kano state is known for traditional seat violence in the past, and out of insinuations, bloggers and social media users have been posting misleading information about violence in the state. Speaking on the trending violence report in the state, the state government agreed that some miscreants and thugs hired by the now deposed Emir were responsible for the news.
“Those hired unpatriotic individuals were only aiming to destabilize the state for personal gain and selfish interest of their paymasters. The great majority of Kano state citizens have shown remarkable restraints and understanding of the sincere action of the state government” Dantiye said.
Acknowledging the reports of violence, the state government appeared to play down the incidents that are recipe for violence. “while the government is aware of isolated incidents in a few areas by a handful of small children and hired miscreants and thus, these do not in any way reflect the overall situation” the government official said.
He went further to blame the media for the reports, arguing that the misinformation by the media was as result of desperation. He maintained that there is peace in the state and that the action of the government to depose Bayero was in the best interest of the state.
When Sanusi II was deposed, he respectfully left the palace without constituting any public disorder or asked his teeming supporters to cause violence. The state government further urged the deposed Emir to accept his fate and act in best interest of the state and country at large.
