President Tinubu Was Angry With Akpabio’s Handling Of Senate Affairs During Private Meeting- Report

Immediately after the raucous meeting in the Senate Chamber where the federal government was accused of budget padding in the tune of Three Trillion Naira by a Senator, President Bola Amed Tinubu called in Senate President Godswill Akpabio for a heart to heart talk.

Immediately after the meeting, Godswill Akpabio rigidly left the President’s office without responding to questions from journalists. He was visibly mean, not pale but not in the best of moods.

Bola Amed Tinubu’s administration has promised to take a different path from the one Muhammadu Buhari took, and issues like budget padding paints the administration black and undermines the credibility of the administration.

Buhari’s former aides have decried the constant attack by the present administration towards its predecessor. The former aides said Tinubu’s administration have not respected its predecessor and should do more to look inwards rather than outward. Owing to the fact that this present administration claims to be a saint by targeting previous administration.

Every effort is geared to prove that President Bola Amed Tinubu’s administration is without corruption, but less than one year of the administration, corruption is ringing a louder bell on the Senate Chamber.

The previous administration was accused of budget padding and it is widely believed that budget padding is a quick means to corruptly steal from the common wealth of the people. Being accused of budget padding points to one direction- Tinubu’s administration is same as the rest.

Angered by the blackmail and potential damage to his government the budget padding accusation could cause, President Bola Amed Tinubu called in the Senate President for explanations.

The sources within the presidency that confided in Dailytab24, but chose to speak anonymously due to they have no right to speak publicly on the matter said President Bola Amed Tinubu was immensely angry with the event in the Senate. He pointed that he cannot take such embarrassment.

“The image makers of this administration have claimed to be spotless. Budget padding allegation is kettle calling pot black. The President was so disappointed with the Senate that such issue could come up publicly. The issue could dent his administration, the President is angry” one of the sources explained.

The sources further explained that President Bola Amed Tinubu blamed Akpabio for not nipping the issue in the bud. Speaking on the anger directed at Akpabio, the source said.

“The President expected the Senate President to be proactive. He ought to have known about Ningi’s moves. He has the power and his intelligence, and ought have prevented a public spat. The President expected Akpabio had call Ningi in, address the matter or his concerns privately” the source said.

He further disclosed that there are indeed some Senators pushing to dethrone Akpabio, but the President has confidence in him.

“The President is aware of the politics going on, but Akpabio remains his favorite there. The President was satisfied with the suspension of Ningi, as he was convinced it would be a deterrence measure for others”
