Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny has come to the end of his opposition journey in Russia, like many others before him; he followed the path of mysterious death. One fate awaits all that oppose Russian dictator, Vladimir Putin, mysterious death.
Navalny was transferred to Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district prison – a penal colony – his crime was his opposition to Putin who fabricated too many charges and sentenced him. While announcing the death of Navalny, Federal penitentiary Services made sure there was a story that followed up the alleged murder as claimed by Navalny’s camp.
“Navalny felt unwell and almost immediately lost consciousness” the publication by the prison service said. The event that led to his death occurred on Friday after a healthy walk – aimed to keep fit. They further said medical staff had been called to save Navalny’s life, but the effort came to zero. The opposition leader eventually lost his life, like many others that opposed the Russian dictator.
Russian spokesman confirmed the death of Alexei Navalny, declaring that the Russia’s penitentiary service made the necessary checks and still checking to ascertain the cause of the death of Putin’s opposition leader – a man Putin desperately wanted dead. He further said he has no information regarding the death of the main opposition leader.
It is unbelievable to the camp of Navalny, they have declared they are not aware of the death of their leader. Navalny’s lawyer is now en-route to the prison to confirm the death of his client. Until his death is confirmed by his lawyer, his former deputy Leonid Volkov cannot move ahead of events.
“Russian authorities published a confession that they killed Alexei Navalny in prison. We do not have any way to confirm it or to prove this isn’t true” his former deputy said. Even the press secretary of the opposition leader said she could not confirm the death of his boss.
Putin doesn’t mince words whenever his state controlled media reports death of any opposition. It often comes out to be true and Alexei Navalny’s case won’t be different. While the confirmation from his camp is expected soon, those that know Putin well have already begun to react.
Due process is already on the table. Russia’s investigative committee has begun a process to duly probe or investigate the death of the opposition leader. The committee declared on Friday. Oppositions in Russia believe the process of investigation is a formality to wrap up the murder, and present Putin as if though he knew nothing about the death of the opposition leader.
French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne was not surprised “Navalny has paid with his life for his resistance to a system of oppression” a comment made on Friday while reacting to the death of the opposition leader. “His death in a penal colony reminds us of the reality of Vladimir Putin’s regime” he concluded.
“Whatever your thoughts about Alexei Navalny as the politician, he was just brutally murdered by the Kremlin. That is a fact and that is something one should know about the true nature of Russia’s current regime. My condolences to the family and friends” Lativian President Edgars Rinkevics said on X on Friday.
Reactions are pouring in from foreign offices but that would not change the heart of Putin who has not been fair to oppositions in Russia, even as they die mysteriously.
