The two Africans destroying African dreams in Sudan have intensified their onslaught to grab the power they desperately seek. The power must at all cost, including razing down entire Sudan and finally governing one man in Sudan, power is power, even though all Sudanese are forced out of their country, must come to either of them. Army’s last resort in the capital Khartoum, a well fortified base is a subject of taking for the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

The army’s base is a strategic place that when taken might give Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces the edge to finally put their hands on the laurel – a laurel that had come at the peril of innocent and law abiding African children in Sudan. As war rages in Khartoum, claims and counter-claims fill the air.

Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces uploaded a victory video, in what appears to be a military parade they have finally taken the army’s base, but the army made a post, countered their claim and updated they have successfully driven the paramilitary forces out of the military base.

Sources monitoring the war said the claims were made to please external forces funding the groups, and also to strike a psychological imbalance on the fighters on the army’s side. Speaking about the development, an indigenous source monitoring the war said.

“They are showing their various sponsors they are making inroads and doing better, plus the bragging rights at home. And aside the bragging right, if Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces claim victory, those supporting the Army will consider withdrawing because nobody wants to invest in failure. So, the two notorious war mongers know what they are doing” she said.

“We the people are at the receiving end of this war; we are killed and forced out of our homes. The war has taken a tribal dimension, and people are traced to their homes and killed for being of a particular religion or tribe. We are heading in the direction of unchartered waters, nobody can speak out because you will be killed” the source who out of fear didn’t want her name in print added.

It’s now more than four months since the war for the capital Khartoum began, the Army is well equipped with artillery and the base in contention is well fortified and would significant destabilize the Army if captured by the Rapid Support Forces. Who takes the Amoured Corps Base will go a long way to defining where victory will go. The war appears not to be declining, battle for the Khartoum Army base is desperately raging.

The two factions have no regard for civilians as deaths of civilians continue to rise every day. Residents committees said internal displacements and deaths of civilians capped the battle for Amoured Corps Base. Rapid Support Forces are in desperate need of Army’s bases in the capital as they have none, which has not helped their strides. While they have dominated on the ground, they have not been able to claim bases.

Darfur, one of the country’s largest hubs has faced crimes against humanity and threats of tribal extinction. Tribesmen are killed and displaced for being of a particular tribe, a move that has deepened anger and added fuel to the fire of the war.

According to United Nations, in South Darfur, precisely Nyala, at least, more than 50 people had been killed and 50,000 have been displaced between August 11 and 17. Water and electricity have been cut off, making life quite unbearable and aiding displacements.

Food shortage continues to take significant toll in Sudan, with over 500 children ending up dead. Babies in government run orphanages are the worst hit, while in Khartoum; over two dozens of babies in orphanages have died since April, according to Save the Children Charity Group.

31,000 children faces possible deaths for lack of access to treatment for malnutrition and food shortage related sicknesses since they were forced to shut down 57 of its nutrition centers in Sudan. The warring factions have often declined to honour humanitarian corridor deals.
