Inter Miami was heading for the abyss until the magic man was signed for the club, few weeks later, their story changed from grass to grace in the most spectacular manner. Such story is magical, it takes magic to turn things around and because it’s football, there is a Merlin of the game – Lionel Andres Messi. The story of Inter Miami changed immediately he stepped his feet onto the pitch, unbeaten until the trophy was won – Leagues Cup.
More trophies will follow. This is one of the many to come, because it is the dream of Messi, and he is profoundly motivated to be the most decorated player by distance. When speaking in the past; Messi had said his dream was to surpass Dani Alves’ record of most trophies. He was focused on the dream and worked hard, while at PSG, Messi won the ones he could.
His dream was on a balance when he signed for Inter Miami, a club that was remarkably shrinking and on a spectacular fall. The club had not won any match out of more than a dozen they tried, and hope was dwindling. The club was clueless, but the owner’s look out for a savior clicked and Messi was signed.
When signing Messi, his former team mate, Kun Aguero had reacted to the league position of Inter Miami that kept getting worse each day, commenting that Messi has a lofty work to do. Others doubted Messi’s magic, saying the potency of his wand had reduced and can’t shoulder the desires of the people at Inter Miami. Boom! The arguably greatest footballer of all time delivered.
A total of 44 titles and nobody can boast that number, at least for now. Dani Alves will no longer be in contention by the time he is through with his case and Christiano Ronaldo needing to battle, while age hunts every bit of him that it could. The competitors in sight know they have a herculean job to do, should the target be to depose Messi.
35 titles with Barcelona, a club that gave him the chance to excel, despite leaving his boyhood club in a tough situation, the club will forever be grateful for everything Messi did. The story of the glorious days of Barcelona will never be complete without mentioning Messi. A player that carried the club on his shoulder right from the first day he wore the jersey.
5 titles for Argentina, after the ups and downs, the frustrations and near-international retirement, Messi scaled through and came out victorious. He led Argentina to 5 titles, winning everything and the greatest of trophies in Arab. Messi Argentina’s story is so mesmerizing that he chose to savor it than win another World Best Player award.
Despite the tribulations and boos at PSG, Messi was able to win 3 titles with the club, scoring the goal that won his first title with PSG. He went on to score 16 goals and made 16 assist the next season, sealing the French League Cup.
Inter Miami is a new journey and on that will be ridden with trophies. One is in the pocket and many more to come. Messi settled perfectly in the club and is back to enjoying football and making his indelible mark on the game. 44 titles in total and the Argentinean god of football is not yet satisfied. He would continue to pummel the planes of United States of America and scooping every title on offer.
Major League Soccer is back on the pages of social media and others, the presence of the best changed everything.
