Lavia draws history comparison as reason for ditching Liverpool FC

A transfer twist that would go down as one of the craziest unfolded last week between Liverpool Football Club and Chelsea Football Club, but it appears not to have ended there, with Chelsea’s new signing saying the history of Chelsea contributed to Liverpool snub.

Liverpool drew the first blood but ended up in defeat – when they forced into a transfer Chelsea Football Club has been on since May. Chelsea have decided to calmly and stiffly go about their businesses and especially the then potential signing of Caicedo from Brighton. It was all good with 100 million pounds valuation of Caicedo seen as exaggerated by Chelsea. They wanted less than that, of their own valuation.

The swift interest of Liverpool in Caicedo and the acceptance of transfer fee by Brighton without consulting the player triggered a red-hot interest in Chelsea, who later purchased Caicedo in the excess of 115 million pounds.

Caicedo stayed true to the personal terms reached with Chelsea since May and openly rejected Liverpool’s fee. He made clear that his choice remains Chelsea.

In swift retaliation, Chelsea joined the bid for Liverpool’s long target and quickly reached agreement with Southampton, who sold Lavia to them after reaching agreement in principle with Liverpool. Liverpool surrendered their pursuit of Lavia as report indicated Chelsea had more lucrative proposal to Lavia than that of Liverpool.

Earlier, the two clubs had their first game of the season between each other, which ended in draw, courtesy of goals from luiz Diaz and Chelsea’s new signing. After the game; Jurgen Klopp said Chelsea managers always have financial edge over Liverpool, by saying all Chelsea managers get what they want.

In his first speech since he was announced by Chelsea Football Club, Lavia said the recent history of Chelsea was one of the factors that ignited his choice to wear the blue jersey.

“I am really happy and proud to join this football club, a club with big history and it’s a privilege for me to be able to put this shirt on today” he said to Chelsea site.

“I think the project and the ambitions of the club were key factors, but also the history behind it and these were the three factors behind my determining my decision”

Speaking about Chelsea’s new coach “First of all, Mauricio Pochettino is a great manger, I think we all know what he has done before and when I spoke to him, it was pretty clear what he wanted and the direction he wanted the team to go. I was really pleased to hear what he wanted and his energy was something that matched with mine, so, I am really excited to start working with him”

Not bothered about the competition and the many signings so far by Chelsea, instead, Lavia cherishes the fact that players signed so far by the new owners of Chelsea are well known by him.

“Yeah, it is a very exciting time , and most of the time the players that we have signed are players that I have played against and I thought these players are good, so to be able to work with them is a great feeling”
